The Office of the Vice Provost for Educational Equity supports the President’s Commissions for Equity: the Commission for Women (CFW), the Commission on Racial/Ethnic Diversity (CORED), and the Commission on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Equity (CLGBTQE). Educational Equity serves as an advocate for Penn State`s diversity and inclusion initiatives. Our office seeks students who are in good academic standing for a work-study Office Assistant position during the Fall and Spring 2016–17 academic year. Students will work regular hours during the week (open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and may choose their schedule in consultation with their supervisor(s). Applicants must submit a résumé along with a class schedule once enrolled and attending classes during the semester(s). Common job duties include, but are not limited to: meeting with supervisor(s) and office staff regularly; utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to create, save, download, and share files; communicating with office staff via Penn State email and Microsoft OneNote; maintaining supply inventories including paper and beverages; stocking paper and beverages; sorting and delivering incoming mail; sending outgoing mail to the mailroom; operating copiers, printers, fax machines, and other office equipment; printing and assembling name tags and tents; organizing and alphabetizing name tags and tents; maintaining membership lists; inputting data into spreadsheets and databases; and other duties as assigned. Previous work experience in an office environment preferred. Successful candidates will possess effective written and oral communication skills as well as being detail-oriented, reliable, efficient, motivated, and resourceful. Applicants will provide specific examples on their résumé of how their experiences have prepared them to perform the common job duties described above. Students also are encouraged to include their relevant skills, abilities, and academic experiences on their résumé.
