The Student Leadership Program Assistant is a federal work-study position within the Office of Student Activities. Supervised by the Coordinator of Student Involvement and Fraternity and Sorority Life and the Student Activities Administrative Assistant, this position will assist with the implementation of a comprehensive leadership development program, specifically, with individual leadership development programs. Additionally, this student worker will work on, and contribute to the day-to-day administrative tasks of the Office of Student Activities. Position responsibilities: This Student Leadership Program Assistant is responsible for: Preparing materials for Leadership Programs (PowerPoints, activities, etc. Managing and inputting all assessment data for the leadership development programs including Leadership Ambassadors, Emerging Leaders, TED Talk Tuesdays, etc. Creating publicity for all Individual Leadership Development programs. Creating social media posts and send to the social media coordinator for distribution. Conducting research and benchmarking on other leadership development programs. Assisting with the creation and upkeep of the leadership development webpage. Assisting in the preparation of the LeaderQuest program (creating application, etc.). Participating in a semesterly review process; Meeting regularly with supervisors. Displaying a willingness to learn new skills. Greeting and assisting all users of the Office promptly and professionally. Serving as a communication link between students and College personnel. Answering the phone in a professional manner and properly handling all messages. Managing Office resources, supplies, and facility. Adhering to departmental policies regarding office etiquette. Attending all required trainings and in-services; Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: The Student Leadership Program Assistant must be a full-time Penn State Behrend Student and have: Federal Work-Study. An appreciation and willingness to learn about student leadership. Experience implementing programs and events. Graphic design capability including familiarity with Word, Photoshop & Illustrator. Competent computer skills; An ability to work on their own. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Position Learning Outcomes: The Student Leadership Program Assistant will learn to: Plan and evaluate programs and events. Communicate effectively with multiple campus constituencies. Design and distribute marketing materials. Work effectively on a team. Manage and prioritize a variety of tasks. Use effective interpersonal skills. Utilize and refer students to a variety of campus resources and opportunities.
