The Learning Center Peer Tutor facilitates individual and small group tutoring sessions for subjects in which the tutor has shown an excellent understanding. The Peer Tutor will integrate effective study and learning strategies in addition to reviewing content information during their sessions with the ultimate goal of supporting the tutee’s development into a successful, independent learner. Peer Tutors are expected to meet with their assigned tutees on a consistent basis and will accurately complete and submit paperwork in a timely manner. There may be other duties as assigned. The minimum requirements of this position are undergraduate student status, a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher, a grade of B+ or higher (a grade of A is preferred) in any course being tutored, and two faculty or staff recommendations. Candidates for this position will complete mandatory tutor training, adhere to Penn State’s Academic Integrity policy, agree to act appropriately in terms of communication, punctuality, and collegiality; and agree to act in a professional manner respecting all types of individuals in our diverse university community.
