Aid in the organization and maintenance of the lab equipment and facilities; assist Lab Supervisor in support of Faculty and Staff requested projects, as well as other assignments; assist with Lab classes as needed and directed by the Lab Supervisor - this is when individual and Lab class schedules coincide; work together with other Student Lab Assistants while working on Faculty research projects, this will consist of producing working prototypes from Faculty research concept plans. Basic Qualifications: This hands-on position requires current enrollment by the student, EMET, ME, or ENGR majors strongly recommended. Industrial experience with mechanical lab equipment is desired, but not required and training will be provided. Desirable industrial experience includes the use of milling machines and lathes, knowledge of measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers, and a background in CAD. The position requires strong communication skills, ability to understand direct instruction, and follow through for the completion of jobs. Shop and lab safety, as well as general knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE), is required when in the Labs.
