The Center for Healthy Children is seeking 5 undergraduate students (preferably sophomores, juniors, and seniors) for Work Study Research Assistant positions. Work Study students will assist with various aspects of the project including: Preparing paperwork for participant family visits, along with preparation of supplies required, and compiling packets of pre-established study instruments, provided in the protocol. Assist with preparing breakfast for participant families. Assist participants with ironing on MRI images to t-shirts, and assist with art and science projects. Assist with nutrition education. Work study students will walk to Irving`s (College Avenue) on visit days to pick up lunch for visiting families, as well as walking to the CRC (Noll Lab) to pick up lab results twice weekly. You may also be required to walk to the PSU Creamery to pick up dry ice (twice weekly). Post visit assistance; general clean up at end of day. Prepare the unit for the next visit. Inventory supplies and replenish as needed. We have medical, office, and nutrition supplies which require monitoring to maintain an adequate level of inventory. Data entry: Routine data entry (typing) into established code books and databases, entering blood lab results. You will be trained on all duties. All students will be required to complete CITI human subjects training, blood borne pathogen training, and biosafety courses. All are available online. All students working in the Center for Healthy Children are required to submit to a Pennsylvania State Child Abuse Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Clearance, and FBI Fingerprinting Clearance. Work hours are Monday through Friday and every other Saturday and interested students should be prepared to work at least 10 hours weekly for 2 semesters.
