Project: Analyses of Dyar`s data on molting in insects. In this position, you will assist Dr. Jorge Santiago-Blay, adjunct lecturer in biology, with entering data captured by Dr. Harrison Gray Dyar, Jr. in the late 19th century and early 20th century into an Excel database. Some of the original handwritten data has been successfully transcribed. In addition, you will assist Dr. Santiago-Blay in requesting permission to reproduce images of the insects (generally immature and adult Lepidoptera, moths and butterflies) whose growth data will be entered for possible publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Requirements: Experiene with Excel. Must have an interest biology, mathematics, history, and psychology. If you like to learn about "bugs" (= entomology), this job is for you. A scheduled training period at Penn State York is essential to ensure the excellent quality of the work being performed. Thereafter, the student may be allowed to work on his/her own. This position is available only to qualified work-study students from Penn State York. Must have a steady schedule as this position requires working collaboratively. Note: this position is available for federal work study only.
