Academic Career Planning Center (ACPC) Ambassadors will assist in marketing and enhancing ACPC services for Behrend students. Ambassadors will communicate to current and prospective students the importance of academic and career planning activities to enhance college success. The training provided will help the Ambassadors further develop organization, communication, and presentation skills. The ACPC Ambassadors will: Market ACPC services through social media, print, and video formats using Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, etc.; Present in classes, clubs/organizations, residence halls, workshops, luncheons and/or open houses; Review students’ resumes; Assist with ACPC events such as Career Fairs, Employer Information Sessions, and Scheduling Workshops; Gather and share student feedback/concerns with ACPC staff; Provide tutorials for student use of systems such as Interview Stream, LionPATH, and Nittany Lion Careers; Complete other duties as assigned. The ACPC Ambassadors may do one or more of the following depending upon office needs and Ambassador’s skills: Provide study skills and time management materials to students and discuss strategies for academic success; Be trained in proper interviewing techniques and conduct and review practice interviews with undergraduates; Research background information for ACPC staff projects; Serve as a teaching assistant for ACPC’s Internship, Job and Graduate School Search class and/or DUS First Year Seminars; Develop special initiatives that align with ACPC goals and Ambassador’s specific areas of interest. Preferred Qualifications: As of fall 2018, have at least 5th semester standing and be declared into a Behrend major; not graduating earlier than spring 2019; 2.70 cumulative GPA or higher desired; Be a self-starter and an enthusiastic supporter of Behrend and the ACPC; active in club(s) or organization(s) desired; Strong verbal and written communication skills, willing to share one’s own successes and challenges at Behrend; Computer skills (Microsoft Office), social media/networking experience desired; Be available for 10-15 hours work per week primarily between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., with some evening and weekend hours required; work schedule to be determined by office needs and Ambassadors’ availability. Work Schedule and Compensation: 10-15 hours per week, $10 per hour.
