The Pennsylvania State University Abington Campus is searching for a part-time Survey Project Manager to coordinate a research study at the newly opening Rail Park. This Project Manager will coordinate field operations and provide quality assurance for field research data collection occurring in those data collection sites. The Project Manager will supervise up to 8 interviewers responsible for data collection. During the summer and fall months (May - October) the Project Manager will primarily supervise data collection staff and conduct reliability checks. The duration of this appointment is from May 21, 2019 until November 1, 2019. The Project Manager will work approximately 10-20 hours per week. Job Responsibilities: Train, schedule, and supervise field observations and surveys; coordinate logistics with the Principal Study Investigators (Penn State); communicate regularly, and provide quality assurance reports to project team and the Principal Study Investigators (Penn State); maintain equipment inventory, and ensure field workers have adequate equipment; maintain and organize collected data materials; develop and communicate field work schedule, including back-up plans for employee turnover; conduct quality assurance checks, and provide mentoring to ensure research assistants are completing assigned work properly; maintain financial records, and submit invoicing to Penn State. Job Requirements: The ability to work without direct supervision, this includes appropriately prioritizing workload, timely completion of job responsibilities, and taking initiative to resolve problems; proficiency with MS Office programs, and Google Docs; ability to understand, implement, and explain complex protocol; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; must have reliable transportation; willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions; willingness to conduct observations and surveys with recreation site users; must have a flexible schedule including the ability to work weekdays, weekends and holidays. Preference will be given to individuals who are representative of Philadelphia’s diverse park user population and applicants who have existing or prior professional relationships with Penn State Abington or its partners on this project (Fairmount Park Conservancy, Friends of the Rail Park, and William Penn Foundation). Senior level undergraduates or recent Bachelor’s candidates in the social sciences would be a good fit for the work and experience expectations for this position.
