This position is open to Penn State Abington Undergraduate Students only. The Office of Development and Alumni Relations is seeking one or more responsible students for part-time, hourly work, 3-10 hours per week between the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (we will work with your schedule when deciding exact hours). We seek students who desire to gain experience working in an office environment; if you are interested, you may be given the opportunity to lead a visible campus project. Students who have and/or desire to gain leadership experience, creative writing, website management, and/or general office experience are encouraged to apply. Corporate Communications and Information Sciences and Technology Design and Development majors preferred. The creative writing, website management, event planning and office tasks will be related to Penn State Abington Alumni Relations and fundraising efforts, and may include: googling names of alumni to find their current employment information; interviewing alumni and writing short profile articles for publication on the Alumni website and E-newsletters; photography and video editing and production; graphic design; social media management; data entry and analysis; Senior Class Gift planning and execution; and stewardship reporting; providing assistance to Alumni Relations and Development staff with special projects and performing basic administrative office duties; assisting with the activities and events of the Student Philanthropy Council and the Blue and White Society; supporting the work of the Associate Director for Alumni Relations and the Assistant Director for Stewardship and Donor Relations; assisting with event planning, such as Homecoming and donor events. Students will learn about the fundraising profession and gain firsthand experience in the operations of an alumni relations and fundraising office. Additional responsibilities may include one or more of the following: online researching, organizing files and supplies, handling sensitive and/or confidential materials, and communicating with alumni. This position is available 3-10 hours per week during the Fall 2019 semester, with possibility for renewal in Winter 2020. Our office is located ½ mile off campus at Rydal Executive Plaza building (REP), 1095 Rydal Road (adjacent to Rydal Regional Rail station). There is plenty of free parking.
