Campus Recreation, a department within Student Affairs, is seeking Boating Attendants for Stone Valley Recreation Area. Stone Valley Recreation Area is 17 miles from the University Park Campus, nestled within the 7,000-acre Stone Valley Forest. If you find yourself craving the great outdoors and enjoy taking on new adventures, we may have the job for you. Boating Attendants are responsible for outdoor customer service and operations of Stone Valley’s Boat Rental service. Main functions of the position include: Opening and closing the facility including set up and tear down of all equipment, assisting customers at the boating shed, issuing equipment, properly fitting PFDs, providing information on basic boating safety, and operating a motorboat. Boating Attendants must be detail oriented and ensure proper management of equipment and the facility including but not limited to upkeep/cleaning of boats, paddles, life jackets and associated recreational equipment. CPR/First Aid/AED certification required or ability to obtain within one month of hire. Classes are offered through Campus Recreation on a regular basis. Pennsylvania Boating Safety Education Certificate or equivalent highly recommended. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation and have access to a reliable form of transportation. Positions are mostly seasonal in nature with the primary hours scheduled from May through August. Preseason and Post-season hours may be available weekends and evenings in April, September, and October. Applicants must be able to work weekends and holidays as necessary, day and evening hours will also be available. Hiring preference will be given to Penn State students and we build your work schedule around your class schedule. Applications will be kept on file until July 31, 2020.
