The Abington Center for Student Achievement is looking for Penn State Abington students who are interested in playing a pivotal role in making The Center for Student Achievement a welcoming environment for all students. The Front Desk Welcome Specialist will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Center for Student Success Coordinator in developing meaningful and effective programs and practices for Penn State Abington that will lead to student success. The position will design success workshops and present them to students. The Front Desk Assistant also has the opportunity to design a welcoming space for the Center. This is an excellent opportunity for students who have an interest in developing leadership skills, such as problem solving, multi-tasking, empathy and communication skills, while working in a professional environment. Qualifications: You must be a Penn State Abington student with a minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.5. A minimum CGPA of 2.5 must also be maintained while serving as a Front Desk Welcome Specialist. Primary Responsibilities: The position is a full-year commitment from Fall 2019-Spring 2020. The Front Desk Welcome Specialist will be responsible for welcoming students to The Center for Student Achievement, assisting with the sign-in process, connecting students with resources, answering the phone and student inquiries, researching best practices for Student Success, and maintaining a professional and productive atmosphere for students to achieve success. The Front Desk Welcome Specialist will be expected to engage in on-going training and periodic staff meetings. Seeking applicants with strong interpersonal skills, clear and consistent communication, empathy, problem-solving abilities, computer literacy, comfort in multi-tasking, respect for confidentiality, team-orientation, patience, creativity, and time management skills.
