The Academic and Career Planning Center (ACPC) is seeking three to four students for the summer to assist with New Student Orientation (NSO). The Orientation Leaders (OLs) will be one integral component of facilitating a positive transitional experience for the incoming freshmen class. The OLs will serve as the representatives of the Penn State Behrend student body and will be expected to engage incoming students and their families at all New Student Orientation sessions in the summer. OLs will have tasks that are both informational and relational. Informational tasks include: directing students and families to the appropriate rooms and buildings; assisting with check-in; answering questions about Penn State policies and procedures; setting up and tearing down NSO rooms and organizing NSO materials. Relational tasks include: sharing relevant personal experiences at Behrend with students and families; maintaining a positive and upbeat environment; facilitating discussions with students about college life; giving presentations and leading discussions regarding Title IX issues. Shift: The OLs will be hired to work a variant schedule in the ACPC from May through August, and must be available from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on the following NSO days: Monday, June 22, 2020; Wednesday, June 24, 2020; Friday, June 26, 2020; Monday, June 29, 2020; Wednesday, July 1, 2020; Tuesday, July 7, 2020; Wednesday, July 8, 2020; Friday, July 10, 2020; Tuesday, August 18, 2020; Wednesday, August 19, 2020; Thursday, August 20, 2020 and two additional Adult/Transfer Student Orientation days that will be determined at the beginning of the summer.
