Description

This part-time undergraduate student position staffs the receptionist areas of Penn State Learning’s(PSL) learning labs in Boucke and Sparks buildings and reports to the Cocurricular Programs Coordinator who oversees the receptionist program. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Day-to-day greeting, checking-in, and guiding students coming to PSL labs for tutoring. Monitoring learning lab check-in kiosk to ensure proper functioning and reporting unresolved issues to professional staff. Entering student learning lab and resource data. Regularly checking learning centers to ensure they are clean, and equipment is operational, addressing unclean or unsafe conditions, and alerting the appropriate personnel to malfunctioning equipment. Checking supply levels regularly, replenishing supplies, and informing supervisor when supplies are low. Responding to voice mails, collaborating with other receptionists and tutors, and ensuring internal and public signage is current and accurate. Entering data from supplemental instruction into data entry system and maintaining confidentiality of program participants. Training of new receptionist hires and effectively communicating policies and procedures to students, tutors, staff, and other receptionists.
