Description

Work with a group of students towards the development of transgenic plants that are part of a project on delivering plant protective genes. The specific tasks involve working with the bacteria Agrobacterium which transfers genes into the plant chromosome. The major task is subsquent transfers of plant tissue in a biocontainment hood onto media with selection antibiotics and ultimately observing for plant regeneration. In this position you will be taught basic plant tissue culture and microbial methods, agar media preparation and generally contribute to the overall laboratory tasks. We run a very ‘flat’ group, where even the lab professor does dishes.
